How we got started

Larry Kennebeck started Performance Paving Limited in 1968. His vision was to build a successful company using his skills and fondness for his work in the asphalt trade. Like most entrepreneurs, he started with a modest means; a small building, limited machinery and a mere handful of employees. Sales would have to occur one at a time while he was out in the field managing the projects he sold. If business was to grow, a sales team and advertising budget were not a luxury he could afford. So, he adopted a simple but serious approach, to be the best. He was certain that the asphalt work he did would be the best ‘salesman’ he could offer any potential customer. 

And, he was right.

One after another, customers of Performance Paving referred their friends and neighbors. The word of his high quality service caught on and spread into towns and counties.

After nearly 30 years, Performance Paving Ltd. serves 8 counties in Illinois and Wisconsin, expanded their capabilities to meet both commercial and public roadway paving, outgrew 3 different facilities and rolls out 18 teams every morning.

Performance Paving Ltd. remains a family owned business, where Larry Kennebeck and his son, Kevin, still carry on Kennebeck's original approach, to grow by referral through high quality workmanship.
